Educational consulting projects include the development and facilitation of the Gruen City (Green City) sustainable development education project for Hong Kong Baptist University, co-sponsored by the EU Erasmus+ project. This two-year project (2019-2020) mentored secondary students who collaborated in cross-cultural teams from three regions: the EU (Spain, France, Germany, and the Netherlands), the greater S/E Asia region (India, Indonesia, Nepal), and Hong Kong. The participants learned about the EU Environmental Action Programme objectives, researched the issues and develop criteria for evaluating green cities, and collaborated on the design of ideal Green Urban Environments. I created the project overview video below to support our entry in the Re-imagine Education Awards 2020, where the Gruen City project was shortlisted for an award in the eLearning category:
I developed a WordPress website to describe the project, set up and coordinated a Moodle workshop course to train EU and Asian students about sustainable development, and facilitated a series of Adobe Connect web conferences and forum discussions. I also led the students through an exploration of the SimCity Buildit city-building simulation as an educational design tool, and developed tutorial videos to support their learning, such as the one below:
This project was preceded by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Asia project for the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation – RECAP. This two-year project (2017-2018) supported five teams of young visionaries across the Asia region who have ideas which address regional energy security and climate change, articulated in four of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. My work supporting this project includes the design and development of a WordPress website, a Moodle workshop course, and setup and facilitation of weekly Adobe Connect web conferences and forum discussions. This project used educational technology to connect young activists from a wide range of cultures (India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nepal, and Mongolia), supported them in developing digital stories, and helped them spread their ideas via social media and at UN-sponsored regional conferences. Below is the SDG Asia project overview video:
Other consulting projects include a pilot program with the Hinrich Foundation, where I developed an online platform to enhance their Trade Negotiation simulations, and operated web conferences to connect the student delegates.
